It’s a common belief among many writers that you can’t write something unless you read a lot. I believe this to be true and know many authors who were great readers before they started to write anything.
I started reading at a young age and I think that partially inspired me to start writing my own stories – the kind I really wanted to read.
I think the best advice for any new or aspiring writer is to read a lot and read widely. Look at how other authors structure their characters, plots and worlds.
Here’s a few great quotes about reading:
Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body – Joseph Addison
The best advice I ever got is that knowledge is power and to keep reading – David Bailey.
