Today I’m hosting author Mirren Hogan as part of the blog tour for her new book, Crimson Fire.
Tell me a bit about yourself, your hobbies, likes and dislikes. I don’t have a lot of time for hobbies, but I like to read and take my dog for walks in the forest behind our house.
How did you get into writing? I’ve always written, but I think that’s because I’m an avid reader. What I read gives me ideas and those ideas have to go somewhere.
Did you choose the genre you write in or do your stories lead you? Both. I’ve dabbled in different genres, depending on the story I wanted to tell, but fantasy is my nice, warm, comfy blanket that I like to wrap myself in, as a reader and as a writer.
Give me all the wonderful facts about when I can get a copy and where? You can buy a copy from Amazon in paperback and ebook.
How did you come up with the idea for this book? Having read lots and lots of fantasy, I’d never come across a setting with similarities to Africa. I’m sure they’re out there somewhere, but I’d largely seen European or Asian settings. I decided to be different. I also didn’t see many LGBT characters in fantasy, especially as a main character, so Tabia was created.
Who is your favourite character in this story and why? Probably Harshal, although you don’t see as much of him here as in books 2 and 3. He’s the comic relief and gets all the good lines. I also love the main character Tabia, because she’s strong but flawed, like all women.
Will you tell the readers your favourite scene, if you can without giving away too much information? (This is totally an optional question.) Let’s just say that I like when a bad character gets what he deserves and how that happens. It was fun to write, if a little evil (in a good way).
