Today I’m hosting author Jennifer Allis Provost aspart of the blog tour for her new book, Rise of the Deva’shi

1. How did you get started in writing?

I’m a born storyteller. I’ve been making up stories for as long as I can remember; before I could write, I drew horribly lopsided pictures of my characters. Maybe that makes me a born comic artist!

2. Who is your favorite character?

Aeolmar and Latera, the alpha couple of Rise of the Deva’shi.

3. Who is your favorite author?

I have to pick just one? It’s a toss-up between Robin McKinley, Patricia Briggs, and Ilona Andrews.

4. When do you usually write?

I set aside a few hours in the morning, when the house is nice and quiet (and I can hear myself think).

5. Do you listen to music while writing? If so what?

I don’t listen to music, but I do tend to have the television on in the background with a movie featuring superheroes and flashy explosions.

6. What books have most influenced your life?

The Hero and the Crown by Robin McKinley, A Swiftly Tilting Planet by Madeline L’Engle, The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien, and Bullfinch’s Mythology.

7. What are you passionate about these days?

Oh, so many things. Mostly I’ve been passionate about wellness, and how to incorporate healthy habits into daily life. As writers we tend to sit around a lot, and that’s not good for our bodies or our minds. Besides, if we don’t get up, get out, and experience new places and ideas, how will we come up with ideas for the next book?

Jennifer Allis Provost is a native New Englander who lives in a sprawling colonial along with her beautiful and precocious twins, a dog, two birds, three cats, and a wonderful husband who never forgets to buy ice cream. As a child, she read anything and everything she could get her hands on, including a set of encyclopedias, but fantasy was always her favorite.
